
High Peak AC once again pulled out some fabulous performances at the second of the Derbyshire Mini Leagues meetings on Saturday 27th at Moorways Stadium.
The rain just held off allowing the sun to shine as the HPAC athletes worked hard to gain some excellent finishing positions in their events.
Alice Tolley showed yet another outstanding performance for the U11 girls in 600m race, setting a new competition record of 1.53.33m she also took 3rd place in long jump. Bessie Morris in her debut performance for High Peak ran two amazing races, taking second in the 80m in a massive field of 19 competitors and 4th in 150m. Courtney Limer worked hard and took 2nd in Howler Javelin and 3rd in 150m. Also competing well, adding valuable points to the tally were Hannah Duncan, Amelie Graham, Plum Kidd, Martha Harris-Wood and Thalia Parker-Heath.
U11 boys also had an excellent performance from newcomer Tom Boam who raced ahead to win the 80m, he then threw a great Howler Javelin to take 2nd. Samuel McGill showed his talent winning the 150m. Xavier Morgan ran a hard fought 600m and finished 3rd while his team mates Jed Burton and Dylan Taylor both performed hard for the club.
U13 girls saw Freya Hatcher dominate in a wide array of events, she won the 70m hurdles clearing the hurdles with impressive style, she then threw the shot 6.92m equalling the distance of 1st place, finally she came a close 3rd in High Jump. Marissa Jackson and Eva-Jane Berry both ran good races in 200m, 100m and Javelin, they worked hard and showed perfect team spirit trying events they haven’t done before.
U13 boys team was a little thin of athletes with only Gregor McGill and Will Stanway available on the day but this didn’t stop them producing strong athletic performances, Gregor in the Long Jump, 200m and his strongest races 1500m where he finished 5th. Will also ran 1500m and came in a very strong 3rd place.
U15 girls had the strongest turn out for the club and their performances didn’t disappoint. Katie Taylor showed her strength in the throws, taking 2nd in Javelin, her first time to compete at this event and 4th in Shot, she also ran the 75m hurdle race where she finished 5th. Megan Harris-Wood pulled out some fabulous PB’s firstly in 100m, running it in 13.71s then jumping an impressive 4.70m in Long Jump, she also came 5th in 300m. Sosseh Badjie ran an absolutely outstanding 1500m, battling right to the line to finish a very close 2nd in PB time of 5.01.87m. Lastly the U15 boys, again only the 2 boys available to compete, Eddie Fenton showed a strong sprinting display finishing 2nd & 3rd in 300m & 100m respectively, he then took 5th in Javelin. Byron Masterson showed his strengths in throwing events, taking 3rd in Shot and 4th in Javelin.
HPAC continue to be very proud of all the amazing efforts all athletes put in and the excellent team spirit they display. The next Derbyshire Mini League will be held on 24th June.
