
High Peak AC athletes were amongst the Derbyshire teams that went to compete at the Sportshall UK Finals held at Manchesters National Arena, Sportcity.
With some excellent performances by all who were selected to represent their county, Frankie Heathcote particularly displayed superb running talent by becoming a UK gold medalist in the 6 lap race with an amazing winning time of 1min 09sec. He also competed in Standing Triple Jump, finishing 6th and along with his HPAC team mate Eddie Fenton competed in the 8 Lap Paarlauf, where the pair finished a very respectable 4th. Eddie also had a great 7th place result in the 2 Lap Race and came 20th in Standing Triple Jump. Also representing Derbyshire on the day for the Under 13 boys was David Laver, in Vertical High Jump and Gregor McGill in the 4 lap race both showing outstanding effort and personal performance, helping their team by gaining valuable points.
For the Under 13 girls Katie Taylor & Megan Harris-Wood showed amazing athletic determination in a closely fought heat in the 8 Lap Paarlauf, both girls giving everything they had in the race. Katie also put in an very strong performance in the Speed Bounce and finished 7th, whilst Megan went on to come a fantastic 6th place in Standing Long Jump, she ran a super strong 4 Lap Race finishing 8th overall.
Two HPAC boys were called into the Under 15 boys team at fairly short notice. Isaac Quinn competed in the 4 Lap Race, Shot & Standing Long Jump. Freddie Hatcher in the 2 Lap Race, Speed Bounce and Standing Triple Jump. Both boys put in great personal performances and were very proud to be there on the day adding valuable points to their Derbyshire team total.
